Rob Thacker was born on May 20,1970, in Westminster, Maryland. He was raised in a Christian home and at an early age the Lord set His loving grace on him. He attended Francis Scott Key High School and graduated in 1988. It was during those high school years that Rob sensed God’s calling to the ministry and was richly blessed under the pastoring of Dr. Ralph Davis. In the fall of 1988, Rob attended Covenant College on Lookout Mountain, Georgia as an applied music major scholarship on the tuba. However, after a semester of applied music, the Lord called him to other areas of interest and so in the Spring of 1992, he graduated with a BA degree in Sociology & a minor in Bible. It was during his junior & senior years at Covenant that Rob felt even more that the Lord was calling him into ministry and, at that time, ministry to youth.
Thus, in the fall of 1992 Rob enrolled into Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. God presented Rob with a great opportunity for ministry during the spring & summer of 1993. While working with youth at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Jackson, he was offered the position of chaplain for the then Jackson Generals, the minor league team of the Houston Astros. It was truly a wonderful ministry experience. Then in late January early February, the Lord introduced Elizabeth Ann Clark of Yazoo City, Mississippi to Rob and on September 3, 1994 (the opening day of Dove Season), they were married. Finally in May of 1995 Rob graduated with a Masters of Divinity & a Christian Education degree from Reformed in Jackson, MS.
Soon afterwards, Rob accepted the call of assistant pastor to First Presbyterian Church in Belzoni, Mississippi, where the Lord would bless him with a life long friend and mentor, Pastor Richard Wiman. In December of 1996, Rob received the call to Bailey Presbyterian Church in Bailey, Mississippi. During their short time there the Lord blessed Rob & Elizabeth with their son, Frederick Clark Thacker who was born on April 20, 1998. Eventually, the Lord called Rob & his family back to the Delta of Mississippi in the spring of 1999 to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, Mississippi where he served as assistant pastor. It was again there that Rob was blessed with another life long friend & mentor, Pastor Doctor Randy Thompson. In December of 2002 the Lord moved the family 30 miles up the road from Greenwood to Indianola, Mississippi and First Presbyterian Church, where Rob has served for over eight and a half years. It was during his ministry there on May 22, 2004, that the Lord blessed their family with Elizabeth Lee, Robert Douglas, & Samuel Joseph - their triplets.
It was in the fall of 2011 God called Rob and his family to come to be the pastor at Faith Presbyterian Church in Goodlettsville, Tennessee.
So what does Rob like to do for fun? He loves to spend time with his family; workout with weights; play sports; hunt & fish; go shooting; travel; read; go to movies, concerts & sporting events. He is still a diehard Oriole fan hoping that Cal Ripken Jr. will buy the Orioles and turn the team around. He is also an avid fan of SEC sports and wears proudly the colors of maroon & white for Mississippi State Bulldogs, the alma mater of his sweetheart, Elizabeth. He also loves gardening. He has been involved with Boy Scouts serving as an assistant scout master & coached Little League baseball. He hopes in the future, when time permits, he and Elizabeth will write a book on raising multiples.
